Anxious Patient Clinic
We have a well-qualified and experienced team to help us treat patients who are anxious of dental treatment. Different types of treatments start from basic hypnotic suggestion techniques (iatrosedation) ranging through oral sedation, intravenous sedation and relative analgesia (laughing gas).
Our accreditation in sedation, means:
- We accept new patients who may require sedation techniques
- We accept referrals from dentists in the region to carry out sedation
- We train dentists in the use of sedation
- We train other members of the dental team in the use of sedation
Raj Sajjanhar and Philippa Crowdy have both completed Diplomas in Pain Control and Conscious Sedation (Dip Con Sed), which is the ultimate qualification implicated in the safe practice of different sedation techniques. This has enabled us to focus on the treatment of nervous patients throughout the whole practice. Our staff are specially trained in this effective and safe technique.
Intravenous sedation is one of the most popular forms of treatment and involves the administration of an injection in the back of the hand to allow nervous patients to become very relaxed and leaving them with very little memory of the procedure.
Case Reports:Lorna Robson has been apprehensive of dental treatment for most of her life and did not attend her dentist regularly before she joined our practice.
Now Lorna is a regular attender and does have any treatment she requires with intravenous sedation. She copes with her treatment very well now and is motivated in looking after her own mouth – the experience of visiting us is very comfortable.

Nathan Hall from Morpeth, was referred to us by his dentist to carry out some routine dental treatment. Nathan was particularly nervous and unsure if he could undergo the treatment, but having spent a good amount of time talking about the treatment, we carried it out with relative analgesia (see above) and it was successful.

Patrick Cooper has just finished a course of treatment and had 3 teeth removed in one appointment - what a brave lad!

Well done Lewis King for having some teeth removed.
